Going East: Wega goes to Myanmar

One of the countries of the Indochinese Peninsula that is perhaps lesser-known, but no less bewitching and rich in culture, is the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, often referred to as Burma. This country, which borders Bangladesh, India, China, Laos and Thailand, lies on the splendid Bay of Bengal, into which flows the Ganges, not far from the place where Mowgli, the hero of “The Jungle Book”, lived.

In June this was the stunning setting for the third Food & Hotel Myanmar 2016, one of the best-known and most important international trade fairs, covering Food & Drink; hotel; restaurant; bakery and food service equipment.

Wega was not about to miss the opportunity to take part in such an important event, and in fact, together with Aroma Gourmet, was a Platinum Sponsor of one of the most anticipated events in the coffee lover’s calendar: the Myanmar National Barista Championship (MNBC).

This year’s winner is Kyi Pwint Phyu, a young barista who works in the YKKO Hledan chain of restaurants and who won everybody over with her amazing concentration and precision.
