Wega professional partner for the 1st International Contest of Locally Roasted Coffees

AVPA (2)

The geography of coffee is changing its image, and it’s betting on value in order to bring the role of the producer back into focus. With this concept in mind, AVPA (Agence pour la Valorisation des Produits Agricoles) has organized the first edition of the International Contest of Locally Roasted Coffees. As professional partner of the event, Wega will be supplying the top-of-the-line model from their energy saving range, the Wegaconcept.

AVPA (3)The contest got underway in Paris on Monday, May 18th, and will reach its peak on the 12th of June with the awards ceremony scheduled at the city hall in Paris. Throughout these weeks, a professional jury made up of a panel of experts from the sector, gourmet connoisseurs and sensory analysis specialists will evaluate locally roasted coffees from all over the world. The job of selection carried out by the technical committee will lead to the election of products containing the best intrinsic organic properties. Awards will be assigned to the best roasters, who will receive gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as a gourmet medal. During the course of this prestigious event, Wega machines will play a starring role: the competition will feature three Wegaconcept models with total white finishes, all customized with the AVPA logo.

The contest is based on the conviction that coffee should be considered a sort of national heritage, the fruit of a producer’s passion and specific elements of the “terroir”, much like the approach to wine. The final objective is the full expression of the aromatic richness of coffee: not only through better control of the production process – and the producers’ skill in managing varieties, roasting methods and preparation – but also through the promotion of an increasingly savvy tasting culture.
