EIC Pre-selections: Wega rewards Andrea Faggiana

A contagious smile, a bit of a hipster look and talent to spare: these are the traits that distinguish Andrea Faggiana, the young barista who captured victory last Thursday, May 7th in the primary selections for Espresso Italiano Champion hosted by Wega.

The level was very high in this round, which was organized in association with INEI: all of the professional contestants demonstrated remarkable competence and skill. They were a group of young, enthusiastic folks eager to improve and expand the culture of Italian espresso and cappuccino. Victory was hotly contested and the well-deserving finalists (Riccardo Mizzau was second and Sandro Scarpa third) truly represented the “crème de la crème”.

There were moments of tension and moments of fun, involving hard work and free spirits. It was nice to see that in addition to their concentration, contestants interacted among each other with sportsmanship and conversation, exchanging ideas and opinions about their jobs, talking about extraction and greeting customers, spurring each other on and cheering for the victories of their peers.

Therefore everything was carried out in full Wega style: competition but maximum fairness, a youthful, close-knit spirit and true professionalism, great team building skills and fantastic determination to make it to the top of the podium.
