Giro d’Italia/3. Headed East

Today is the last day of rest for the Pink race.  After its passage through the Marca and a brief, cross- border excursion into France, and after having endured endless rain, route modifications and two epic finish lines under the snow at Bardonecchia and Les Granges du Galibier, the Giro is taking its final break.

After having explored the extreme western part of the route, the caravan is preparing once again to head to the Dolomites, ready to take on snow and ice – at more that 2,600 metres on the summit – on the walls at Gavia and Stelvio, alighting in Val Martello on Friday.  Before heading straight to Brescia for the final finish line with a stage dedicated entirely to sprinters, the Giro is getting ready to celebrate its triumph at the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

The excitement continues …
